WELCOME
OPENING
HYMN: LIFT UP YOUR HEADS, YE MIGHTY GATES
Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates!
Behold, the King of glory waits.
The King of kings is drawing near;
The Savior of the world is here.
Life and salvation He doth bring;
Therefore rejoice and gladly sing.
To God the Father raise
Your joyful songs of praise.
A righteous Helper comes to thee;
His chariot is humility,
His kingly crown is holiness,
His scepter, pity in distress.
The end of all our woe He brings;
Therefore the earth is glad and sings.
To Christ the Savior raise
Your grateful hymns of praise.
How blest the
land, the city blest,
Where Christ the
ruler is confessed!
O peaceful
hearts and happy homes
To whom this
King in triumph comes!
The cloudless
sun of joy is He
Who comes to set
His people free.
To God the
Spirit Raise
Your happy
shouts of praise.
Fling wide the portals of your heart;
Make it
temple set apart
From earthly use for heav’n’s employ,
Adorned with prayer and love and joy.
So shall your Sov’reign enter in
And new and nobler life begin.
To God alone be praise
For word and deed and grace!
Redeemer, come and open wide
My heart to Thee; here, Lord, abide!
O enter with Thy grace divine;
Thy face of mercy on me shine.
Thy Holy Spirit guide us on
Until our glorious goal is won.
Eternal praise and fame
We offer to Thy name.
INVOCATION
Pastor: In
the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
CONFESSION
AND ABSOLUTION
Pastor: If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us.
People: But if we
confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive
our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Pastor: Let us then confess our sins to God

we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by
what we have left undone. We
have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We justly deserve your
present and eternal punishment. For the sake of
your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us,
and lead us, so that we may delight
in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
Pastor: Almighty God in his mercy has given
his Son to die for you and for his sake forgives you all your sins.
As a called and ordained servant of the Word I therefore forgive you
all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the
Holy Spirit.

HOLY
GOSPEL: Matthew 21:1-11
Pastor:
This is the Gospel of the
Lord.
People: Praise to You, O Christ
HYMN
OF THE DAY: O LORD, HOW SHALL I MEET
YOU
O Lord, how shall I meet You,
How welcome You aright?
Your people long to greet You,
My hope, my heart=s
delight!
O kindle, Lord most holy,
Your lamp within my breast
To do in spirit lowly
All that may please You best.
Your Zion strews before You
Green boughs and fairest palms;
And I too will adore You
With joyous songs and psalms.
My heart shall bloom forever
For You with praises new
And from Your name shall never
With-hold the honor due.
I lay in fetters, groaning;
You came to set me free.
I stood, my shame bemoaning;
You came to honor me.
A glorious crown You give me,
A treasure safe on high
That will not fail or leave me
As earthly riches fly.
Love caused Your incarnation;
Love brought You down to me.
Your thirst for my salvation
Procured my liberty.
Oh, love beyond all telling,
That led You to embrace
In love, all love excelling,
Our lost and fallen race.
Sin=s
debt, that fearful burden,
Cannot His love erase;
Your guilt the Lord will pardon
And cover by His grace.
He comes, for you procuring
The peace of sin forgiv=n,
His children thus securing
Eternal life in heav=n.
He comes to judge the nations,
A terror to His foes,
A light of consolations
And blessed hope to hose
Who love the Lord=s
appearing,
O glorious Sun, now come,
Send forth Your beams so cheering,
And guide us safely home.
SERMON- Celebrate! - Matthew 21:1-11
CONFESSION
OF OUR FAITH –
NICENE CREED
I believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth
and of all things visible and
invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
Begotten of his Father before all
worlds,
God of God, Light of Light
very God of very God,
begotten, not made,
Being of one substance with the
Father,
by whom all things were made;
Who for us men and for our
salvation
came down from heaven
And was incarnate by the Holy
Spirit of the virgin Mary
And was made man;
and was crucified also for us
under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried.
And the third day he rose again
according to the Scriptures
And ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of the
Father.
And he will come again with glory
to judge
both the living and the dead,
Whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit
the Lord and giver of life,
Who proceeds from the Father and
the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son
together
is worshipped and glorified,
Who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy
Christian and apostolic Church,
I acknowledge one Baptism for the
remission of sins,
And I look for the resurrection
of the dead
And
the life of the world to come. Amen.
PRAYER
OF THE CHURCH
Each petition concludes with ''Lord in
your Mercy'' and the congregation responds ''Hear
our Prayer''
The prayers
conclude, “Into
your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy;
through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.”
People:
Amen
OFFERING and OFFERTORY- Let
the vineyards be fruitful
Let the vineyards be fruitful, Lord, and
fill to the brim our cup of blessing.
Gather a harvest from the seeds that were
sown,
That we may be fed with the bread of life.
Gather the hopes and the dreams of all;
Unite them with the prayers we offer now.
Grace our table with your presence, And
give us
a foretaste of the feast to come.
PREFACE TO THE
LORD’S SUPPER
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Pastor: Lift
up your hearts
People: We lift them to the Lord.
Pastor: Let
us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It
is right to give him thanks and praise
PROPER
PREFACE
Pastor: It
is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all
places give thanks to you, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, whose way John the Baptist prepared,
proclaiming him the Messiah, the very Lamb of God, and calling
sinners to repentance that they might escape from the wrath to be revealed when he
comes again in glory. Therefore with angels and
archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify your
glorious name, evermore praising you and saying:
Holy,
Holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might:
Heaven
and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna. Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna
in the highest.
PRAYER
Pastor: Blessed are You, Lord our God, for
creating humankind and, when we rebelled, You did not remain
apart in Your holiness, but sent prophets and apostles to speak Your
Word of judgment and grace. In Your mercy You sent Your Son, who
with His body and blood redeemed us to be Your own. Grant us
now a firm faith that we may welcome Him under bread and wine,
receiving thereby the blessings of
forgiveness, life, and salvation.
LORD’S
PRAYER
Our
Father who art in heaven,
hallowed
be Thy name,
Thy
kingdom come,
Thy
will be done on earth
as
it is in heaven;
give
us this day our daily bread;
and
forgive us our trespasses
as
we forgive those
who
trespass against us;
and
lead us not into temptation,
but
deliver us from evil.
For
Thine is the kingdom
and
the power and the glory
forever
and ever. Amen.
WORDS OF
INSTITUTION
Pastor:
Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when
He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said:
"Take, eat; this is My + body, which is given for you. This do in
remembrance of Me."
In
the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks,
He gave it to them, saying: "Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new
testament in My + blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.
This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
THE PEACE OF THE
LORD
Pastor: The
peace of the Lord be with you always.
People: And also with you.
AGNUS

DISTRIBUTION
HYMNS: NEARER, NEARER COMES THE MORNING
Nearer, nearer comes the morning;
Watch the ever growing light!
Golden rays the sky adorning,
Heralding the waning fight.
Once, you clung to darkened slumber,
Eyes dimmed with your sins of old.
Break free from the dismal number.
See the heavens bright with gold.
Do not miss the
bright star shining,
Turn not from
the angel pinning,
Yearning to
share holy mirth.
Lift your face
and see the choir;
Listen to their
message dear.
God with us is
His desire:
Infant Jesus is
now here!
In the bread and
wine and water,
Jesus touches
you and me.
Claiming us as
son and daughter,
God’s Word calls
us to be free.
Our Lord touches
us with blessing,
Dwelling in our
hearts each day.
Thankful now,
our lips confessing:
Our Lord
promises to stay.
Do not let your
heart stop yearning
For the coming
dawn of grace.
Keep your
wayward eyes from turning
Toward the dark
and sinful place.
Look! Your
Morning Star approaches,
Beckoning
believers here.
Though the evil
one encroaches,
Fear not; Christ
is coming near!
Everlasting
celebration!
O celestial
glory bright!
We have seen the
Lord’s salvation.
Dwell in
everlasting light!
Wait not idly in
the twilight;
Shine as light
for all to see.
Burn your lamps
through darkest midnight
Till we view
eternity.

We give thanks, heavenly
Father, that You have refreshed us through this life-strengthening

now and forever.

Dear desire of ev’ry nation,

Feeding the Five
Thousand
If you were at the Voter's meeting, you will know that pastor Jim threw down the gauntlet, and challenged the congregation to be the body of Christ in the world, and to emulate his miracles. Miracle number one, is to feed the five thousand. So far, the congregation has amassed 82 items of food to feed the hungry of our city, especially at Christmas. If you'd like to participate, it's as easy as bringing an item of food when you come to church, and dropping it off in the food bank drum. The most requested items are:
1. Powered Milk 2. Juice 3. Peanut Butter 4. Soup 5. Meat and Fish (cans) 6. Stew (cans) 7. Pork and Beans 8. Baby Food 9. Pasta Products 10. Enfalac, Isomil Formula
